TIME: 10-4pm, 10-2pm

Collagraph is a technique for creating textured plates through collage. It is a playful, experimental process employing natural or common household and recycled materials.
This two-day workshop will cover designing and constructing plates, inking up and printing using the etching press. The workshop is suitable for complete beginners or more experienced printmakers who would like to explore some different approaches to collagraph. Additional value will be gained by doing some ‘homework’, between the two sessions, but this is not essential. All materials will be provided.

This course is intended for adults and is limited to 6 participants. Booking is essential.

LOCATION: Albatross Print Studio
TUTORs: Sarah Ward and Lisa Benson

In this fun and playful workshop you will learn a number of monoprint techniques. The beauty of this type of printing lies in its spontaneity and ability to combine printmaking, painting and mark-making. Using stencil monoprint to create, overlapping colour mixing abstract forms, layered images and structured patterns. You will also have the opportunity to experiment with painterly mark-making techniques. These types of prints often result in interesting textures and marks that cannot be created through direct painting.

Introduction to dry point printing

DATE: Wednesday 23rd August
TIME: 10 – 4pm
TUTORS: Lisa Benson and Sarah Ward
COST: £70 (members price £63)

A one-day workshop introducing you to intaglio printmaking. Dry point is the most direct form of intaglio printmaking, allowing you to scribe, or draw, directly onto the plate which enables you to reproduce your design many times. We will experiment with creating plates on different surfaces – card and acrylic sheets.

You will be taught the inking up process and how to pull a print using the studio’s etching press. You will also have the opportunity to add coloured layers and create textures and shading in your prints.

Suitable for complete beginners as well as those who have already done other workshops and want to develop further skills. Please bring found images, sketches or ideas you would like to work with. Sample images will also be available.

Please email us at info@albatrossprintstudio.com if you have any questions that are not already answered here.
